Spring has sprung, and what better way to celebrate than with a visit to a gorgeous tulip festival right here in the Milwaukee area?
These festivals are the perfect family-friendly outing.
With stunning displays of colorful tulips and plenty of fresh air and sunshine, it’s an ideal way to spend a day outdoors with your little ones.

Happy Day Farmhouse Tulip Festival (Free!)

This year, Happy Day Farmhaus in Germantown (W188N13251 Maple Road) will have 6500 Tulips in bloom for their 3rd annual Tulipfest. That’s almost double what they had last year!
There will be dozens of varieties and colors. Tulip will be for sale for $2 per stem or $3 harvested with the bulb.
The festival is free to attend, and parking is $5. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed.
Be sure to dress for the weather and wear sunscreen and bug spray. It’s a farm after all.
Vennture Brew Co will be on hand serving up coffee, and local food trucks will be on hand, including Flour Girl & Flame wood-fired pies, Tots on the Street with gourmet stuffed tater tots, and Pete’s Pops.
There will be live music by Sam Benson and Scott Lowery.
Richardson Tulip Festival

Just an hour drive from Milwaukee, the Richardson Tulip Festival is expected to run mid-April through mid-May.

There will be 300,000 new bulbs of over 30 different varieties, with 100,000 tulips in a pick-your-own area.
The tulips are planted near their private 36 acre lake with a walking trail. The Adventure Farm grounds will be open for wine tasting, fresh donuts, kettle corn, indoor restrooms, and more.
There will be free games to play like giant checkers, jenga, and cornhole, plus live music on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
Parking is free. It’s about a half mile walk from the tulip fields parking area, or you can drive.
Wheelchair & Stroller accessibility: The tulips have been planted in a hay field, so the ground is a farm field with some lumps and bumps. The walkways are mostly a grass/weed mixture. If it has recently rained, the ground turns a little mushy. The parking area is rough grass. From the tulip fields, the ground slopes down to the festival area with the food trucks, picnic tables, weekend music, etc. The slopes are within ADA guidelines. Because the ground is rough, some people may need assistance getting their wheelchair back up the hill.
