humpback whale at Gift of Wings International Kite Festival Veterans Park Milwaukee Wisconsin

This weekend, Gift of Wings is once again hosting the 44th Annual Frank Mots International Kite Festival on Milwaukee’s lakefront. The free event begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with a Grand Launch of 600+ kites at noon.

See giant kites (including the new IKEA kite), watch world-class kite flying team demos, get kite flying lessons, and more. Gift of Wings will also offer concessions and give away free kites to the first 100 kids that participate in the Kids Mad Dash.

Free parking will be available in and around Veterans Park.

It’s the final weekend to catch DinoDomes, the captivating summer show at the Mitchell Park Domes! Enter a lost world populated by prehistoric creatures, where a select group of dinosaurs have hatched and await you, unmoving, in the lush flora of the Domes.

Dare to pose for a picture with the raptors, and brace yourself for an encounter with the largest dinosaur, Brachiosaurus. But be on your guard … Jurassic times call for Jurassic measures!

The floral bed for this exciting show includes hibiscuses, petunias, begonias, and celosias of varying electric hues, accompanied by ginkgo biloba trees and sago palms – both of which fed the herbivorous dinosaurs millions of years ago.
