One of the only hot-air balloon festivals in the area, this one-day event is back in 2023. Watch hot air balloons as they launch from the fields of Waterford and rise high above the village.

Many family-friendly activities will be available throughout the course of the day, including helicopter rides and drone races. There will also be a variety of vendors offering food, beverages, crafts and more.

Pro Tip: Check the event schedule before you head out. You might miss the launch!

Menomonee Falls Lavender Fest

There’s something for everyone at Lavender Fest in Menomonee Falls’ Village Park, including a vendor market with more than 100 booths (buy fresh cut or dried lavender and lavender lemonade), a beer garden and live music. There will also be a Kidzone with face painting, balloon art, a splash pad and more!

Celebrate Chicago’s railway history with a revival of the Chicago, South Shore & South Bend railroad of 90 years ago. East Troy Railroad will have five operating South Shore cars, originally built in the 1920s, plus two 1924 Chicago Elevated Cars and a newly restored Chicago North Shore & Milwaukee Car.

National Park Rangers from Indiana Dunes National Park will be on hand to explain the history of the South Shore Line and the connection to our cars. Trains run on the hour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
