An exciting day of family fun, live music, and vibrant community activities is coming to Pere Marquette Park as Hoancoming, Milwaukee’s Fresh Coast Party, returns on August 17, 2024.
This annual fundraising celebration for Light The Hoan promises a day filled with festivities both on land and water.
MKE with Kids Stage @ Pere Marquette Park
A highlight for families this year is the MKE with Kids Stage at Pere Marquette Park.
From 2 PM to 4 PM, join us for the Kid Boogie Down, a lively kids’ dance party at the Pavilion.
Satisfy your sweet tooth with treats from Pete’s Pops and Sugar Spun Cotton Candy, both of whom will be onsite selling their sweet treats.
In addition to the dance party, MKE with Kids will host a coloring contest, giving kids a chance to showcase their creativity and win prizes.
Stick around to see the Kayak Parade led by Funk Club paddling the Milwaukee River! They step off at 3:00 p.m.
Timeline of Events
Hoancoming is a day-long celebration starting at 2 PM and concluding with a spectacular fireworks and light show in the evening. Here’s a glimpse of what to expect:
On Land:
- 2 PM – 8 PM: Riverwalk Activities, Live Music, and Boating
- 2 PM – 4 PM: Kid Boogie Down at Pere Marquette Park sponsored by MKE with Kids
- 8 PM – Close: White Claw’s After Party at Boone & Crockett
On Water:
- 3 PM: Kayak + Duffy Boat Cruise
- 6 PM: Boat Parade
- 8:30 PM: Fireworks, Drone Show, and DJ Shawna Light Show
- 8:45 PM: White Claw After Party
Special Cruises
Experience Hoancoming from the water with two exclusive cruises:
- DJ Shawna’s Good Vibes Cruise ft. Radio Milwaukee: Enjoy a 2-hour scenic cruise with a DJ set, complimentary drink, and prime views of the fireworks and light shows.
- Retro 80’s Cruise: Dance to 80s hits on a 2-hour cruise with a complimentary drink and spectacular views.
Both cruises depart from their respective lines at 7:30 PM and return at 9:30 PM.
For groups, private boat cruises are available, featuring complimentary beverages, guided tours, and the best views of the evening’s fireworks and light show.

Her decade-long teaching career in Milwaukee Public Schools and academic background, including a Master’s in Teaching from Marquette University and dual B.A.s in Sociology and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, fuel her passion for inclusive and engaging family content.
