After several years, this beloved tradition is making a comeback, bringing a wave of nostalgia to those who fondly recall the days of chasing down these cards.
Starting this summer, the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD), in collaboration with the Brewers Community Foundation, will once again distribute these iconic cards.
Officers will hand out cards showcasing current Brewers stars like Christian Yelich and Jackson Chourio, creating a new connection point between law enforcement and the city’s youth.
For those who remember, the program dates back to the early 1980s, a time when baseball was at the heart of Milwaukee’s culture, and these cards were a prized possession for many young fans.
Each card not only featured a Brewers player but also carried a valuable safety tip on the back, blending fun with education in a way that resonated with kids.
The revival of the Brewers trading card program is more than just a nod to the past; it’s a renewed effort to foster positive relationships between the police and the community.

Rick Schlesinger, President of Business Operations for the Brewers, expressed the organization’s excitement about bringing back this program. “We’re thrilled to support MPD in this effort and help spark a love for baseball in the next generation,” he shared.
