Next spring, Wauwatosa will welcome a truly magical addition to its new park—a giant troll sculpture created by Danish artist Thomas Dambo.
Known for his whimsical, larger-than-life trolls made entirely from recycled materials, Dambo’s work has been celebrated across the globe.
This will be the first time one of his trolls finds a home in Wisconsin, marking an exciting moment for art enthusiasts and families alike.
Located at 116th Street and Gilbert Avenue, the new park is already shaping up to be a family-friendly oasis, but the addition of Dambo’s troll is sure to make it a must-visit destination.
The park’s design leans towards a more natural, wooded environment, making it the perfect backdrop for Dambo’s rustic, eco-friendly creation.
This giant troll isn’t just about adding a fun, artistic element to the park; it’s also part of Wauwatosa’s broader strategy to become a leading arts tourism destination. The $365,000 project is fully funded by hotel and motel taxes.
The troll joins a growing list of public art initiatives in Wauwatosa, including the vibrant Mural District and the popular ART 64 event.
