Fairs, festivals and good, old-fashioned family fun! Here are our top picks for the weekend:

It’s State Fair season again! The smell of corn on the cob (and manure) is in the air, and so is a sense of pride for all things Wisconsin.

See cuddly baby animals in the Discovery Barnyard, find something fun to do in the Kohl’s Activity Zone, ride down the big yellow slide, and taste something yummy in the Wisconsin Products Pavilion. Other areas to visit that are sure to offer plenty of fun for the kids are the WE Energies Energy Park, the K-9 Sports Arena, and the Farm and Family Building.

Welcome to Glendale’s sixth annual Sprecher Root Beer Bash is a free, family-friendly event that will be held in The Yard at BAYSHORE.

The festivities will kick off with a Kids Dance Party by Kid Boogie Down, and the first 1,000 kids in attendance will receive a free Root Beer Bash Swag Bag at the Welcome to Glendale tent. There will also be live entertainment, a Makers Market, henna artists, balloon twisters, face painting and various kid-friendly activities, including a community art project, kids float zone and petting zoo.

All day long, root beer enthusiasts can enjoy the Root Beer Float Giveaway, courtesy of Sprecher Brewery and Culver’s Glendale. Attendees are encouraged to sign up for their free ticket to ensure ample supply of Sprecher root beer and Culver’s custard.

The event will also feature a variety of food trucks and vendors. The Sprecher Taproom will offer a variety of craft beverages (including 20 sodas and 12 craft beers) and a snack menu.

Summer's Healthiest Tailgate Celebrity Softball Game Milwaukee County Parks Healthy County Challenge

Gather the family for County Executive David Crowley’s Healthy County Challenge, taking place at Clinton Rose Park in Milwaukee.

“Summer’s Healthiest Tailgate” will include free food, family-friendly games, and community resource tables. followed by a celebrity softball game featuring Milwaukee leaders from radio, tv news, community, and elected officials.

It’s sure to be fun for the whole family!

It’s another Sunday Family Fun Day at Northwestern Mutual Community Park! This Sunday’s theme is STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Showcase.

There will be STEM-focused programming from Gearbox Labs, Milwaukee Robotics Academy, STEAM Milwaukee, and others, plus live entertainment from Mad Science, UWM Planetarium, Milwaukee Ballet and more.

Food and beverage options will be available from the following vendors: Bobalou Gourmet Pretzels, Fazio’s Popcorn Wagon, Sil’s Mini Donuts, Streetza Pizza and Pete’s Pops.

Menomonee Falls Lavender Fest

Held each year in Cedarburg, the Ozaukee County Fair is one of the last free county fairs in Wisconsin. You’ll find games, rides, animals, fair food, truck pulls, demonstrations, and live music. (Admission fees apply for the Truck & Tractor Pull and Demolition Derby.)
