Recently, we took a trip to this charming spot, and it’s safe to say that it exceeded our expectations.
Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this is a place you won’t want to miss.
The Toy Store
The store is packed with an incredible variety of items that will spark joy in kids and adults alike. From classic crafts and costumes to the latest Legos and stuffed animals, there’s something for everyone.
We were particularly impressed by the selection of novelty items like lava lamps and flavored slime.
Every corner of the barn offers something new to discover, making it easy to lose track of time as you browse.
Old-Fashioned Candy Corner
You can indulge your sweet tooth at their old-fashioned candy corner. Giant lollipops, novelty candies, and rich chocolates are just a few of the delights that await.
And if you’re a fan of fudge, you’re in luck—there’s a mouthwatering selection that’s hard to resist. .
Skelly’s Game Room and Play Areas
Throughout the store, you’ll find several play areas that invite kids to pause and enjoy some hands-on fun.
One standout is Skelly’s Game Room, a space where little ones can play and explore while parents browse the nearby shelves.
Head upstairs for a separate Lego and Duplo play area, complete with life-size Lego people and large tables for assembling structures.
Historic Charm
What sets the Smiley Barn apart is its blend of old-fashioned charm and modern fun.
The giant historic silo, with its “DAIRY” sign and a smiley face mural proclaiming “Smiling is Good For You,” offers a perfect photo opportunity.
This nod to the past adds a layer of history to your visit, making it a memorable experience for all ages.
A Sweet Stop at Mullen’s Dairy Bar
After exploring the Smiley Barn, we made our way to Mullen’s Dairy Bar, an old-fashioned ice cream shop that’s been serving up delicious treats since 1932.
Whether you’re in the mood for a cone, a malt, a sundae, or a classic root beer float, Mullen’s has it all.
We opted to enjoy our treats on the inviting porch, where we could relax and soak in the simple pleasures of a sunny afternoon.
Extend Your Adventure at Lapham Peak
Just a short drive from the Smiley Barn is Lapham Peak, home to an observation tower that offers breathtaking views of Lake Country.
If you have a bit of time to spare, we highly recommend making the trip to see the scenery from above. It’s the perfect way to wrap up a day of fun and exploration.
