A new year is here, and that means a fresh, new calendar full of kid-friendly activities and events in the Milwaukee area! Here are our top picks for the weekend:

LEGO lovers of all ages are sure to get a kick out of Brick Fest Live, happening this weekend at the Wisconsin Center. More than one million bricks will be on display and ready for play! See life-size models, watch live Interactive stage shows, help build a Guinness World Record-setting mosaic, express your creativity at hands-on build zones, shop for hard-to-find LEGO merchandise and more!

U.S. speedskating championships

Some of the fastest skaters in the world are coming to Milwaukee this weekend! The U.S. Long Track Speedskating Championships and Junior Championships will take place at the Pettit National Ice Center, and admission to watch is free. Don’t miss your chance to see the best U.S. skaters compete over the four day competition.

3. Snow Day (Milwaukee Public Museum)

Saturday, January 7, 2023, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
Admission: FREE with general admission

Inuit Arctic native indigenous igloo at Milwaukee Public Museum

Join MPM on Snow Day to learn how people and animals adapt to frigid conditions to live, work, play, and celebrate during the winter months. Participate in various activities throughout the Museum with their educators. This event is included with general admission.

Whether it’s been years, months or days since you’ve been to Milwaukee County Zoo, there is always something new to explore. Family Free Days offer the perfect opportunity for your family and friends to enjoy the Zoo free of charge (parking and concession fees still apply). Family Free Days are held one Saturday a month, January-March and October-December.

Sunday, January 8, 2023, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Admission: FREE

Up-Down is opening its arcade doors to those under 21 to give families a place to hang out for a few hours. Pizza will be sold by the slice, and soda and other kid-friendly drinks will be available, along with a full bar for those over 21. Games are 25 cents or one token per play. All minors MUST be accompanied by someone who is 21 or older.

Bango with mini at Bucks Family Night Fiserv Forum Milwaukee Wisconsin

Kick off 2023 with a new (mini) companion! The Wisconsin Humane Society Milwaukee Campus is hosting an Adopt-a-Thon for their many small animals in shelters and foster care, from bunnies to guinea pigs and mice to birds.

Whether you’re an experienced owner or brand new to the world of small animals, all are welcome! You can get any questions answered, shop for supplies in their store (all proceeds benefit WHS), name your own adoption fee, and leave with your new mini bestie!
