Here’s what you can expect for Young Changemaker’s Week:

Thursday, October 24

Trick-or-Treat at Eastcastle Place | 4-5 p.m. Kick off the week with a spook-tacular event at Eastcastle Place, a retirement home on the Upper East Side. Children and their caregivers are invited to dress up and trick-or-treat with the senior residents. It’s a wonderful opportunity for different generations to connect in a fun, festive way! Costumes are encouraged, and the joy your little one brings will leave smiles on the faces of their “grandfriends.”

Gardening for Good | 9-10:30 a.m. For little ones who love to get their hands dirty, head to the Kinship Urban Farm in Glendale for an immersive gardening experience. Kids will help plant, water, and harvest produce in the hoop houses, all while learning about the importance of food security in our community. It’s a hands-on way to show children the power of helping others through sustainability.

Monday, October 28

Music Together with Grandfriends | 10-11 a.m. Join seniors at Newcastle Place in Mequon for a joyful morning of rhythm and movement. Music Together classes have long been a favorite for young families, and this intergenerational session will give children the chance to sing, dance, and bond with older adults in a relaxed, playful setting.

Tuesday, October 29

Intergenerational Dance Hall | 10-10:45 a.m. What’s more fun than dancing? Dancing with friends of all ages! Fresh Coast Dance in Whitefish Bay is hosting this energetic event where kids can groove to music alongside seniors. It’s a delightful way for children to experience creative movement while spreading joy to their older community members.

Wednesday, October 30

Mini-Makers at the Museum of Wisconsin Art | 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Head to the Museum of Wisconsin Art in West Bend for a morning of creativity. Kids will create vibrant, fall-themed placemats for seniors, which will be delivered along with Thanksgiving meals. It’s a drop-in event, so families can come and go as they please, and you’re encouraged to explore the museum while you’re there.

Thursday, October 31

Trick-or-Treat at Saint John’s on the Lake | 4-5 p.m. For those who can’t get enough Halloween fun, Saint John’s on the Lake offers another chance for your little one to trick-or-treat with senior residents. This time, they’ll parade through the retirement home in costumes, collecting candy and spreading joy. It’s a memorable way to celebrate the holiday and foster connections with community elders.

Friday, November 1

Craft & Play for Good | 12:30-2 p.m. Wrap up the week at Little Sprouts Play Café in Shorewood, where children will create care packages for cancer patients at Aurora Healthcare. After packing supplies and decorating notebooks and cards, kids can enjoy playtime at the café. It’s a perfect way to teach kindness and empathy while allowing for creative expression.

Families can register for these free or low-cost events, and take part in a week of meaningful, joyful service with their little ones.
